"Hold your heads high by virtue of a double qualification- that of having served in the Navy of Air Force- and that of having taken part in the Battle of the Atlantic"Admiral Horton |

Over the course
of the campaign the Royal Canadian Navy expanded to forty
times its pre-war size, developing from an extremely
small |
| force to a fully-fledged
independent navy. For six long years the Canadian navy
was one of the principal contenders in what was to be
known as the Battle of the Atlantic. Beginning the war
with only 13 vessels and 3,000 men, the Royal Canadian
Navy ended it with 373 fighting ships and over 90,000
men. |
